Retail Cannabis
In 2019, Katz Group entered the retail cannabis market through a partnership with Canopy Growth Corporation (CGC), acquiring the exclusive rights to Tokyo Smoke in Ontario before converting the agreement to a master franchise relationship and growing to over 60 locations in the province. In 2023, OEG Retail Cannabis (OEGRC) completed its acquisition of 23 Tweed and Tokyo Smoke stores from CGC in Manitoba, Saskatchewan, and Newfoundland and Labrador. In addition to the retail locations, OEGRC also acquired the Tokyo Smoke brand from CGC, ending the master franchise agreement, and is now the sole owner of the Tokyo Smoke brand and trademark.
Led by Tokyo Smoke, OEGRC is positioned for future success in the early stages of an emerging market. With over 95 stores in Ontario, Manitoba, Saskatchewan, and Newfoundland and Labrador, and a differentiated retail brand and customer experience, Tokyo Smoke has won multiple industry awards and is a market leader with tremendous cross-country expansion and growth potential as the retail cannabis industry continues to consolidate and mature.
