Tim Shipton
EVP, Communications & Gaming, OEGSE
Tim Shipton is Executive Vice President, External Affairs & Gaming at OEG Sports & Entertainment (OEGSE), a role expanded in May 2021. He leads enterprise-wide communications, corporate affairs, and government relations across OEG and the Katz Group, while providing strategic oversight of OEGSE’s grassroots hockey programming, the Edmonton Oilers Alumni, and alignment with the Edmonton Oilers Community Foundation. Shipton also oversees Win50, sports betting and gaming, and OEGSE’s broadcast services.
Tim played a leadership role in Edmonton being selected as the NHL’s 2020 Hub City, supporting the league’s return to play during the pandemic, and helped secure the 2021 and 2022 IIHF World Junior Championships in the city.
Tim also played a leading role in negotiations with the City of Edmonton and the Government of Alberta that resulted in a $408 million agreement supporting the continued revitalization of downtown Edmonton, including expansion of ICE District through a new Event Park/Event Centre and infrastructure investment to accelerate development of the Village at ICE District, a planned 2,500-unit residential community north of Rogers Place.
Previously, as Senior Vice President, Communications, Shipton directed corporate communications and reputation management for OEG, including media and government relations, and led the organization’s community strategy in partnership with the Edmonton Oilers Community Foundation.
Shipton joined OEG in October 2013 following his tenure as President of the Alberta Enterprise Group and has been recognized as a Top 40 Under 40 honouree by Avenue Magazine.
